West Ranch Golf Team Wins Second Foothill League Match In A Row

It was a little closer the second time around, but the West Ranch boys golf team won Foothill League match No. 2 by 11 strokes over Hart at Robinson Ranch.

West Ranch shot 394 as a team. Joey Downey shot the low round of the day for West Ranch again. This time he shot even par 71.

Hart’s Glenn Lee was second with a 1-over 72.

In high school volleyball, the Hart boys swept Golden Valley in three games and won their second Foothill League match of the season.

In high school lacrosse, West Ranch won its first home game in program history, 15-3, against Simi Valley. The Wildcats are 3-7 overall. Their first nine games have been on the road.

In college baseball, The Master’s College was swept in a doubleheader against Concordia. The Mustangs, ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, lost the first game, 2-0, and the second game 6-0.

Concordia is the 13th-ranked team in the NAIA.

In high school softball, Hart lost to Highland, 3-2, after a controversial seventh inning in the Antelope Valley.

Paxton Provost hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for Hart, but Highland scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game.

The Saugus softball team beat Chatsworth, 8-3. Maddy Jelenicki and Alyssa Rodriguez homered for the Centurions.

In high school swimming, the Valencia boys and girls swept Saugus in a Foothill League meet at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center. The Valencia boys won, 95-75. The Valencia girls won, 113-55.

Valencia freshman Kevin Dai won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke.

Saugus sophomore Abby Weitzeil won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle races.

The West Ranch boys and girls swims teams swept Canyon in a Foothill League meet. The West Ranch boys won, 112-58. The West Ranch girls won, 121-49.

In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Milwaukee Bucks, 113-103. Kobe Bryant scored 30 points and injured his left foot in the game. He left the arena in Milwaukee on one crutch and told reporters after the game he had a bone spur in his left foot.

The Lakers have lost three of their past four games.

In spring training, the Dodgers shut out the Los Angeles Angels, 3-0, in the first game of the Freeway Series.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the St. Louis Blues, 4-2. Dustin Brown scored his 13th goal of the season and Mike Richards scored the game-winner in the third period.

Next up for the Kings are the Wild in Minnesota on Saturday.
