The West Ranch baseball team improved to 7-0 with a 10-1 win over Golden Valley in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.
West Ranch is the only undefeated team left in the summer baseball league.
West Ranch scored six runs in the first inning against Golden Valley. Josh Bird capped the inning with a two-run home run. He was 2-for-2 and scored a run for West Ranch.
Aaron Watkins knocked in two runs and Justin Hovis was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored a run.
Rocky Sherwood was 2-for-3 with a double and walk for Golden Valley. Anthony San Miguel drove in Golden Valley’s only run in the fifth inning.
The Hart baseball team beat Cleveland, 3-1, behind five strong innings from starter Alex Tenorio. He gave up only one hit and struck out six.
Steven Rosso and Tyler Glasnow each drove in a run for Hart.
Canyon beat Alemany, 2-1, in extra innings. Canyon took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, but Alemany tied the game in the top of the fifth. Canyon scored the game-wining run in the eighth inning.
The Saugus baseball team lost to Quartz Hill, 12-0. Connor Wilson and Justin Sheehan had the only two hits for Saugus.
In the College World Series, the UCLA Bruins beat Texas Christian University, 6-3, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning.
Cody Regis and Jeff Gelalich each homered in the third inning. Regis hit a two-run home run in the inning. Gelalich followed with a solo home run two batters later.
UCLA starter Gerrit Cole struck out 13 and took a one-hitter into the seventh inning.
UCLA will play the winner of the TCU vs. Florida State game next on Friday.
The Dodgers limp back to L.A. after getting swept by the Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park. It doesn’t get any easier for the Dodgers.
They start a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim tonight. The Dodgers are in the midst of a four-game losing streak. The Angels swept the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium for the first time in interleague play earlier this month.
It will be Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers against Ervin Santana for the Angels. Pregame starts at 6:30 tonight on AM 1220, KHTS.
