West Ranch, Valencia Baseball Teams Shut Out In Easton Tournament Semifinals

khts_sportsThe West Ranch and Valencia baseball teams played tough, but were shut out in the semifinals of the Easton Tournament.

West Ranch lost to highly-touted Harvard-Westlake, 2-0. JC Cloney had two hits and pitched a complete game for the Wildcats. He gave up only two hits on the mound against Harvard-Westlake.

Jack Flaherty, the starter for Harvard-Westlake, tossed a complete game shutout.

Valencia lost to Alemany, 1-0. Cody Thompson tossed three shutout innings for Alemany. Corey Sims drove in the only run of the game on a sacrifice fly.

Valencia starter J.D. Busfield went six innings, struck out six and gave up only four hits.

Instead of Mission League rivals Harvard-Westlake and Alemany playing in the championship game, Valencia will play Harvard-Westlake and West Ranch will play Alemany in the final games of the tournament.

The Hart baseball team lost to Dos Pueblos, 8-4. Baggio Saldivar had three hits and drove in three runs for Hart.

The Saugus baseball team beat Quartz Hill, 6-1. Saugus starter Justin Donatella pitched a complete game, striking out five.

In high school volleyball, the Hart boys lost to Camarillo in four games. Tanner Tengberg had 10 kills for the Indians.

The Golden Valley boys volleyball team swept Quartz Hill in three games. Alec  Schlossman had 27 kills for Golden Valley.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons beat Allan Hancock College, 6-3. Jake Jelmini homered and was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for COC.

The Master’s College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Fresno Pacific.

The Mustangs won the first game, 12-2. Chris Talley and Bryan Lucas homered for The Master’s College. Talley was 2-for-4 and scored three runs. Lucas hit a two-run home run in the second inning.

The Mustangs won the nightcap, 9-3. Talley and Lucas hit solo home runs in the second game. Cody Harris was 2-for-2 and drove in two runs.
