West Ranch and Valencia stayed undefeated and Hart won big in the Valley Invitational Baseball League over the weekend.
West Ranch beat Saugus 4-1 and improved to 3-0 in Valley Invitational Baseball League play.
Saugus led 1-0 in the third inning, but West Ranch scored four runs in its half of the third. Josh Heinz was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for West Ranch. Teammate Matt Blake was 3-for-3 with a double.
Valencia’s Jake Roberge pitched a two-hit shutout against Simi Valley. Nick Rivas was 2-for-3 and drove in a run for Valencia in his team’s 2-0 win. Valencia is 2-0 in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.
Hart roughed up Burroughs, 12-3, and collected 15 hits. Cole Gasper was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in five runs.
Golden Valley scored seven runs in the sixth inning and beat Alemany, 9-5. Billy Fredrick was 4-for-4 and drove in a run for Golden Valley.
Down 5-2 in the sixth, Golden Valley rallied. Riley Sherwood delivered the big blow with a two-run double to give his team a 6-5 lead.
Canyon lost to Birmingham, 4-2.
In auto racing, two drivers from Santa Clarita won races at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.
R.J. Johnson, a driver from Canyon Country, won the NASCAR Late Model race. It was his third win of the season.
Gerrit Cromsigt of Saugus won the NASCAR Super Stocks race and came in second in the Open Stocks race.
Rich DeLong III of Santa Clarita finished second in the Super Stocks race and extended his lead in the Super Stocks standings at the track.

In the NBA Finals, the Lakers lost to the Celtics, 92-86, in Game 5 and now need to win two games at Staples Center to win the NBA championship.
Kobe Bryant scored 38 points, including 19 in the third quarter, but the Celtics got 27 from Paul Pierce in his best game of the Finals.
It was pretty much a one-man show for the Lakers in Game 5. Bryant took 27 shots and played 44 minutes. Pau Gasol was the only other Laker to score in double figures. He had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Celtics are up three games to two. Game 6 is Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6.
The Dodgers were swept by the visiting Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium for the first time since interleague play began.
The Angels jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Torii Hunter hit a solo home run and Hideki Matsui was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
But the Dodgers rallied for two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to cut the Angels lead to one.
James Loney was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. Rafael Furcal led off the game with a solo home run.
The Dodgers are in second place in the National League West, a game behind the San Diego Padres.
Next up for the Dodgers are the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.
