Santa Clarita Still A Top 25 Retail Market In California

 

 

City holds on to economic title.  

 

The recently released 2008 California Retail Survey ranked the
City of Santa Clarita among the “Top
25 City Retail Markets in California”
based on analysis of 2006 annual retail sales volume.   The
City of Santa Clarita continues to
rank higher than the cities of Newport Beach,
Pasadena, Beverly
Hills, and Santa Monica
in this annual report covering 272 of the largest cities in California.

 

“In the last few years Santa Clarita has become the place to
do business in Southern California,” said Mayor Bob
Kellar.  “Our close proximity to Los
Angeles, growing and affluent population, and support
of expansion of Santa Clarita’s targeted industries sectors make us a City that
continues to provide opportunities for new and existing businesses to thrive
and succeed.”

 

The 2008 California Retail Survey ranks the largest cities
in California based on dollar
volume, growth rates, and sales per outlet. 
The California Retail Survey is a respected source of market
intelligence for corporate and government executives with analysis and rankings
based on actual sales results from retailers in the state. 

 

Santa Clarita has not been immune to the affects of the national
slow down in the economy.  In an effort
to support business, the City of Santa Clarita
has continued its commitment to assisting community partners through several Shop
Local campaigns. 

 

The City has continued to promote the benefits of shopping
local through the City’s website, www.ShopCityofSantaClarita.com,
providing a one-stop shop for retail and service businesses located in the City
of Santa Clarita to list their company for FREE  ShopCityofSantaClarita.com already boasts
more than 4,700 business listings, with address, hours of operation, website,
and discount information for consumers.  Retailers
not currently listed on the site may add their information for FREE
by completing a simple on-line form.
allowing consumers to easily locate businesses in the community.

 

The City of Santa Clarita’s
strong local economy and high quality of life, hallmarks of the community, are
largely dependent upon a successful retail community.  

 

“It is important for residents to remember that dining and
shopping here in our City directly supports our local community and businesses
so please shop local when you can,” said Mayor Kellar.  By continuing to promote our local retail
businesses, the City of Santa Clarita Retail Market
will continue to rank among the Top 25 Retail Markets in the State.
