Day for Kids really about family bonding.
This afternoon at Newhall Park, the city of Santa Clarita and the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club hosted a “Day for Kids.”
The event brought games, activities, carnival rides and live music to the park, all with a family-friendly focus.
In addition, community organizations opened booths and gave away prizes to the thousands of children and parents that attended.
The Placerita Nature Center provided an up-close look at a gigantic Chilean spider, let kids pet non-venomous snakes, and talked nature.
In the food court, the Boys and Girls Club barbecued up hot dogs, while Heart of the Canyons Church gave out snow cones.

The whole event is meant to promote child-parent bonding and encourage spending time together as a family.
