The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita is gearing up for their 42nd annual benefit auction on Saturday, June 1 in the Valencia Industrial Park, on Avenue Scott.

This year’s theme is “Rock On” and will feature a large variety items to bid on, including jewelry, antiques, memorabilia, exotic vacations and professional services.

Ronda Chobanian, the club’s development director, said that she hopes the event will be a fun chance to people to dress up like their favorite bands.

The auction is “critical to the success of the club. It is responsible for 25 percent of our operating income,” Chobanian said.

Yearly membership at the Boys and Girls club is $36, but expenses per child are often as much as $500 per year.

But they “never turn a child away for inability to pay the $36,” according to Chobanian.

They also only receive $15,000 of their $1 million yearly operating budget from the Boys and Girls Club of America.

“We really depend on the community for the funding to keep the club operating,” Chobanian said.

Tickets to the auction are $25 per couple for general admission and $85 for individual reserved seats with dinner included. Other ticket and sponsor options are listed online.

Raffle tickets are $100 each or $500 for 6, $1,000 for 14, $1,500 for 22, or $2,000 for 30.

They can be purchased at the Boys and Girls Club Newhall branch. Presale ticket purchases include general admission for two. The raffle winner must be present at the auction and is entitled to one live auction item of their choosing.

The Boys and Girls Club serves more than 2,400 children between the ages of 7 and 17 each year. Their mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The club is more than a gym and games room.
