Deputies, including a helicopter unit, are taking part in a search of the area, near Peachland and Lyons Avenue, where the stop was being conducted, according to Sgt. Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We’ve identified him, and at this point we’re breaking down the containment,” said Deputy Wood of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies are still looking for the suspect, he said, but they have identified him.

Sheriff’s Station officials would not release the identity of the man, citing that it’s an ongoing investigation.

Deputies were attempting to contact the individual when he ran away on foot and jumped a nearby fence, Allen said.

The man may have had a gun in his waistband, but deputies are not sure.

“The deputy established a perimeter and we’re looking for the man now,” Allen said.

“At this time, we’re not certain he has a gun,” Allen said.
