Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Release Crime Reports: June 22-28

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have released the crime reports for the week of June 22-28.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult on Friday night.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the 27000 block of Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita, investigating the death of a man.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s department is asking residents for help in locating a local suspect, wanted for an alleged attempted stabbing.

Officials stated that a Canyon Country man was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life, convicted of fatally shooting his father after an argument in the family’s home.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials are asking for help in identifying an individual who has reportedly stolen over $500 of home goods.

Canyon Country East

Deputy Chris Craft, Canyon Country East, Zone 8 Public Safety and Crime Prevention

A residential burglary occurred near the 17700 block of Maplehurst Pl., Canyon Country.   The suspect forced entry into her mother’s (victim’s), house and was observed by family members stealing numerous items.  After fleeing the suspect discarded the stolen items a short distance from the location.

A petty theft occurred near 18100 block of American Beauty Dr., Canyon Country.  The victim, who is a taxi cab driver, drove the suspect to a destination in Victorville.  Upon arrival at the location, the suspect ran from the taxi cab and failed to pay for the fare.

A petty theft occurred at a business near the 19300 block of Golden Valley Rd., Canyon Country.   The suspect was observed by a loss prevention agent selecting merchandise from the store shelf and exiting the location without making any attempt to pay for it.

A petty theft occurred near American Beauty Dr. / Sierra Hwy., Canyon Country.  The victim’s laptop computer was stolen from his unlocked vehicle.

A petty theft occurred at a business near the 19300 block of Golden Valley Rd., Canyon Country.   The suspect was observed by a loss prevention agent concealing an electronic device amongst store clothing he was holding.  The suspect then entered the dressing room with the clothing that concealed the electronic item, exited the dressing room a short time later empty handed, and exited the store.  Responding deputies detained the suspect outside the location and discovered the electronic item concealed on his person.

A robbery occurred at a business near the 19300 block of Golden Valley Rd., Canyon Country.  Loss prevention officers attempted to detain two suspects, one of which selected an item from the electronics department and returned it, receiving a gift card in exchange.  The suspect who returned the store item became in involved in a physical altercation with both loss prevention officers as they attempted to exit the location.  The suspects were arrested and booked for the indicated charges.

Canyon Country West

Deputy Jonathan Wilson, Canyon Country West, Zone 7 Public Safety and Crime Prevention

A robbery occurred near the 20800 block of Centre Pointe Parkway.  The victim stated he was pushed off his motorcycle after two suspects told him he owned them money.  The two suspects began hitting the victim while he was on the ground.  The victim gave the suspects $50 in hopes they would stop hitting him.  The police were called and the suspects were arrested.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 27500 block of Esterbrook Avenue.  Person(s) unknown stole numerous items from within the victim’s residence while they were away on a walk.  There were no signs of forced entry.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Three shoplifting arrests were made near the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road.  In all three incidents the suspects took store items without any attempt to pay for those items.  These incidents are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde

A commercial burglary was reported from the 28000 block of Hasley Canyon.  The night manager reported two suspects broke the front glass door to the business and entered the store.  When the suspects saw there was someone inside they ran to nearby parked vehicles and left in an unknown direction.

A theft occurred form the 31000 block of Castaic Road.  The victim left his wallet on the checkout counter of the store and left.  After realizing his mistake he returned and the wallet was gone.  The victim’s driver’s license, bank cards and $1,500 in U.S. currency were reported stolen.

A theft from vehicle was reported from the corner of Parker Road and Sloan Canyon.  The suspect broke the driver’s side window and grabbed numerous personal items.  The crime occurred in the early morning hours on 6-27-15.

A theft from a vehicle was reported from the 28000 block of Sloan Canyon.  The suspects broke the passenger side window and took miscellaneous paperwork and the vehicle registration.  The crime occurred in the early morning hours on 6-27-15.

A theft from vehicle was reported from the 31000 block of Ridge Route Road.  The suspects broke the front passenger’s window and stole the vehicle’s owner manual and registration.  The crime occurred in the early morning hours on 6-27-15.

Newhall

Deputy Danial Dantice, Newhall Zone 6, Public Safety and Crime Prevention

On Saturday the 27th, at 7:55 a.m., the owner of a business in the 22600 block of Lyons Avenue interrupted a burglar inside his business.  The burglar threatened the business owner and fled in a vehicle taking cash from the register with him.

On Tuesday the 23rd, between 6:00 a.m., 7:00 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 21300 block of Nandina Lane.  The burglar broke a window and took electronics.

On Wednesday the 24th, at 12:18 a.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24400 block of Valle Del Oro.  The burglar broke a glass door and stole a ring.

Between Wednesday the 24th at 9:30 p.m., and Thursday the 25th at 1:00 p.m., personal items were stolen from an unlocked car parked inside an open garage in the 22800 block of Red Bluff Court.

On Sunday the 22nd, at 10:05 p.m., a business in the 23900 block of Lyons Avenue was burglarized.  A glass door was broken, but it was unknown if anything had been stolen.

Between Sunday the 21st at 3:00 a.m., and Monday the 22nd at 9:00 p.m., two people took a Honda “Accord” from 4th Street and Race Street without permission, after the driver was arrested.  The vehicle was recovered on Centre Pointe Parkway on Monday the 22nd.

On Monday the 22nd, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., a Jeep “Cherokee” was stolen from Main Street and 8th Street.  The vehicle was recovered on Tuesday the 30th by LAPD Mission Division.

Between Monday the 22nd at 6:00 p.m., and Tuesday the 23rd at 8:35 a.m., $12 was taken from the center console of an unlocked vehicle parked in the 24200 block of Mentry Street.

On Monday the 22nd, between 10:45 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., paperwork was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 24700 block of Ebelden Avenue.

There were seven adults arrested in Newhall last week.  One for possession of burglary tools, one for an assault, one for drunk in public, and four for DUI.

Stevenson Ranch

A burglary occurred on the 25500 block of Valencia Blvd.  Person(s) unknown forced entry into the location and stole a desk computer.

A burglary occurred on the 25700 block of Wordsworth St.  Person(s) unknown broke into the location by entering through an unlocked window.  The location was vacant and nothing was taken.

A grand theft auto occurred on the 24800 block of Pico Cyn Rd. A male adult took the victim’s vehicle without her permission, which was being washed at the location.  The vehicle was later found in Canyon Country unoccupied. **UPDATE**  The Suspect was located and arrested shortly after the vehicle was found.

A shoplifting occurred on the 25400 block of The Old Rd. An adult male attempted to leave the store with a large item he did not pay for.  He was arrested for petty theft.  While speaking with a female adult who was in the suspect’s car waiting for him, she was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and was also arrested.

A shoplifting occurred on the 25800 block of The Old Rd.  A male adult left the location with 15 bottles of wine which he did not pay for.

A petty theft occurred on the 24900 block of Pico Cyn RD.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s bicycle which was left unattended and unlocked in front of the location.
