“We want residents to help us capture what makes our community so unique. We want to see and share Santa Clarita as seen through the eyes of its community members,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
Photo submissions should represent events, activities, and daily occurrences residents enjoy in their community. The photo contest is broken into six submission categories: environment, architecture, people portraits, community life, altered images with artistic value, and photographs illustrating community issues.
Winning photographs will be printed online at Santa-Clarita.com and in city publications, such as the City’s award winning Seasons Magazine. Winning photographers will receive photo credit as well as cash prizes. First place photographers win $300, second place will win $150, and third place will win $50. City staff will judge photographs based on best representation within each category.
Participants must first register and join the Santa Clarita Photo contest group for free at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/santa-clarita-photo-contest. All photos are to be submitted to the Santa Clarita Photo Contest Flickr group.
The next quarter’s competition begins on October 1, 2011, with final submissions due by December 31, 2011.
