Throughout the years sightings of Santa have been reported in Val Verde and Castaic neighborhoods and while this may seem like a holiday myth, the reports are real.
The Castaic Lyons Santa Float has been visiting streets in the two towns since 1989 and along its way bringing cheer and happiness to children and families.
The original float was designed using a modified boat trailer, and has transformed into the rooftop theme that travels around with Santa on the rear.
Children are welcomed to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him their wish list, and receive a candy cane as they leave.
This year marks the float’s 20th holiday season and, as in the past, volunteers on the float will accept food donations. In previous years, the Santa Float has collected more than 10,000 pounds of food which was distributed to local families. Any additional food is then donated to the Food Pantry.
The float runs evenings through December 15. For a schedule of neighborhoods click here.
