Saugus Area Shows Slight Increase In Crime

The Saugus area saw a significant increase in reported crime during the indicated period in comparison to the previous week.

 

A hot prowl residential burglary occurred in the 22900 block of Raintree Lane, Saugus during the early morning hours of Monday morning, May 21. Unknown suspect(s) entered an occupied house, while the residents were sleeping, and stole items from the downstairs area. Access was made from a window which was possibly left unlocked. The suspect(s) removed the screen to gain entry into the house.

There was an attempted burglary a few houses away from the first location on the same night. The suspect(s) also removed the screen from a window, only to find it locked. The suspect(s) were scared away by the homeowner being alerted to their presence.

If you are faced with the same situation where you believe someone is breaking into your residence you can take steps to help ensure your safety by:

-Let the suspect(s) know you are awake by making noise or yelling that you are calling the police.

-Immediately find a secure place in your house and dial 9-1-1.

-If you see the suspect(s) please try to be a good witness. Details about the number of suspects, what they look like and their last direction of travel are helpful in locating and arresting these criminals.

-If you witness suspicious persons in the area, any time of day, please notify the Sheriff’s department by calling (661) 255-1121. As always, in the event of an emergency call 9-1-1.

There were three documented thefts from unlocked vehicles and one vehicle burglary this week. They primarily occurred in the area of Tamarack Lane on Sunday night into Monday. There was also a theft on Millikin Drive. A vehicle burglary occurred on Sunday night into Monday at Catala Avenue. There is a special operation in the works for these and other targeted areas of Saugus.

The Vision Center, 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, was the victim of a commercial burglary where suspect(s) unknown broke the front glass door and stole numerous pairs of glasses. If you or anyone you know has information regarding these incidents please contact Santa Clarita Station.
