Poker, blackjack and craps will be offered to gamers who may participate in a $100 buy-in before the pre-sale deadline, and a $125 buy-in after Nov. 20.

The grand prize is a $1,500 entry into the annual 2014 World Series of Poker Tour, which has become a nationally televised event.

“(The teams) work very hard with a choreographer, and their coaches, to be the best in their divisions and place well,” stated Denise Anderson, whose daughter participates on the junior varsity squad, in an email. “Nationals is a big deal to our team and extremely rewarding.”

However, it’s an expensive process.

“The costs to participate in Nationals are exorbitant, thus the need for the Saugus Cheer Poker Tournament & Casino Night,” she added. “We are hopeful that this event will get us to our goal to cover the costs for Nationals. Nationals is a big deal to our team and extremely rewarding.”

Registration starts at 5 p.m., and the tournament and casino games start at 6 p.m.

If someone wants to come and watch, there is a $50 fee, which will go to support the cheer team.

The event which is being hosted by the Velocity Performance Center, which is located at 28325 Constellation Road, in Valencia.

To reserve a spot in the tournament, contact Dave Tonemen of David Toneman Construction, which is also one of the tournament’s sponsors, at 661-510-8303, or at dtoneman@sbcglobal.net.

The event organizers are hoping to make it an annual event that will support the team’s efforts to compete in the Regional Competition, and a repeat trip to Nationals in March.

Other sponsors of the event include Morris Precision Products; Trevor Rice at Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan; CL Realty Team; Desert Lawn Memorial Park, and others.
