Saugus Union School District Board of Trustees held their annual Organizational Meeting on Dec. 10, according to a press release by Superintendent Joan Lucid.
The meeting started with an oath of office for the re-elected board members, according to Lucid.
Douglas A. Bryce, Paul De la Cerda and Judy Egan Umeck were the three re-elected members.

De la Cerda is starting his third term and was elected as board president for 2014
He is heavily involved with the community and actively participates in non-profits such as the YMCA, Child and Family Center and the SCV Youth Project.
Bryce is beginning his fourth term and was elected as next year’s board clerk.
He has lived in our Santa Clarita Valley for more than 25 years, has been involved in hiring three superintendents and chairs the District Communications Committee on the board.
Umeck, who is beginning her fifth term, was commended for her service as board president in 2013.
She is the current liaison to the Special Education Local Planning Agency.
Continuing Board Member Rose Koscielny, is in her fourth term and has completed both the California School Boards Association Master of Boardsmanship Program and the Masters in Governance Program.
Koscielny is a registered nurse and serves as government relations chair to Assemblyman Cameron Smyth.
All of the board members have completed the California School Board’s Master of Governance and are active participants with the Santa Clarita Valley Board of Trustees, according to the Saugus Union press release.
Each of the board members have children who are currently attending or have previously attended Saugus Union School District schools.
The members are proud of the district’s accomplishments, such as the National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School recognitions.
