June 30 is the deadline for a new scholarship contest sponsored by The Campaign for College Opportunity.
The “I’m One in a Million” scholarship contest invites all currently enrolled college students in California (including AB 540 students) to tell California’s leaders why they and their peers are “one in a million” and why California’s leaders should help them reach their college dream. A minimum of 20 scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded throughout California.
The contest title and theme stem from the fact that California needs 1 million additional college graduates by the year 2025 in order to meet the state’s workforce needs. So, each student who successfully completes college is “one in a million.”
Entrants may submit one entry in each of the following categories:
1. Written Word. Submit 400 words maximum in any written format (essay, letter, poem, story, etc.)
2. Poster. Create an 11″ by 14″ poster that answers the contest question by drawing, painting, computer graphics, or other means of illustrating your message. (Please do not use 3D materials.)
3. TV Ad. Submit a 30-second (or less) TV ad on CD or DVD format only. You may enter this category as an individual or group (up to 4 students). The award will be split among all contributors.
