The SCV Chamber of Commerce Takes a Stand

     As a 501 (c)(6) business association, the Chamber is encouraged to take positions on issues that are considered to be either pro-or-anti business, and then to educate its members on these issues. The Chamber has taken positions on the ballot measures and endorses the following Castaic Lake Water Agency candidates. The Chamber encourages everyone to vote in the November 7 elections.

Prop 1A: YES Transportation funding protection

Prop 1B: YES Transportation bond

Prop.1C: NO  Housing bond

Prop.1D: YES Education facilities bond

Prop.1E:  YES Disaster preparedness and flood prevention bond

Prop. 83: YES  Increases penalties for sex offenders

Prop 84: NO  Drinking water, flood protection, coastal protection bond

Prop 86:  NO POSITION Tax on cigarettes

Prop. 87: NO Tax on California oil production

Prop 88: NO Education funding, new statewide real property parcel tax

Prop 89: NO Corporate income tax hike to pay for political campaigns

PROP 90: NO  Government acquisition, regulation of private property

Castaic Lake Water Agency Board Positions 

·        Ed Colley – Incumbent
·        Peter Kavounas – Occupation: Water utility manager 
·        Jacque McMillian – Occupation: Water policy advisor 
·        Thomas Campbell – Occupation: Water systems engineer

California State Assembly District 38:

·        Cameron Smyth – City council member/businessman; Republican candidate
