Dana Cop, the newly-elected Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman, is poised to receive a County-wide award for her role with AT&T and the area’s business community.
On January 25 at the Staples Center, Cop will be named an honoree for the Comerica Bank Best of LA Women’s Business Awards Program. She will be presented with a plaque before the Lakers take the floor against the Utah Jazz.

“It is great,” Cop said. “I was completely surprised by the honor. I love what I do and it is nice to get recognized in this way.”
Cop is AT&T’s Director of External Affairs for the Greater Los Angeles Area, which has led her to working with several nonprofits and business chambers.
In addition to her position on the SCV Chamber, Cop also serves on the chambers for Alhambra, Montebello and El Monte-South El Monte.
Cop is the face for AT&T across an expansive area covering the Antelope, Santa Clarita and San Gabriel Valleys, as well as the City of Industry, Mirada and Whittier. Her responsibilities in these communities include leading the company’s local government and community affairs activities, organizing philanthropic campaigns and adhering to local policy.
As part of the awards program, Cop is among a select group of five influential women in Los Angeles County. Cop will receive honors for the Woman of Business category. The four other categories are the Woman of Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy, Diversity and Innovation.
“The other women who are being honored are from many different backgrounds and focus areas,” she said. “As the business honoree I am privileged to not only represent AT&T but also all the communities and non-profits I work with everyday.”
Cop believes her willingness to partner and balance her several responsibilities has strengthened her career.
“So much of my job is 24/7 and you have to be able to manage through that,” she said. “I do wear many hats either in my role as chamber volunteer, nonprofit committee chair, legislative contact or business leader. You have to stay focused and organized. On the other hand I believe that through my many responsibilities I’m allowed to learn different points of view from different areas and take the best practices from all of them.”
