SCV Community Expo Coming October 9 and 10

khts_inthecommunityThe 26th annual SCV Community Expo, featuring displays and demonstrations by more than 100 exhibitors, is scheduled to be held October 9 and 10 at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

This free event gives the public an opportunity to meet with and gather information from area businesses, governmental and nonprofit agencies.

Expo expands this year into two exhibit halls featuring more than 100 exhibitors with free admission, free parking, complimentary shuttle service, job fair and flu shots on Saturday, and a pancake breakfast and motorcycle show on Sunday.

Sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce in association with the City of Santa Clarita, the event will kick off with “Taste of Expo” from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 8, which will feature 30 restaurants and caterers.

Local performers will provide entertainment throughout the event on the community stage. Outside the exhibit hall, visitors can enjoy a NASCAR vehicle and simulator provided by L.A. Racing Experience, Irwindale

Hours of the Expo are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. On Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the College of the Canyons will hold its 2010 Job, Career and Intern Fair at the Expo and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will give free flu shots to seniors from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

On Sunday, Rotarians will cook up a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m. and there will be a motorcycle show from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
