The City of Santa Clarita Twitter account posted an alert for residents just after 2 p.m. Sunday, updating residents. The outage is not related to the Charlie Fire burning in Castaic.

By 3:45 p.m., SCE officials were able to get a more accurate estimate of the total number of people impacted by the outage. Of the 5,023 residents affected, 198 were still without power by 4 p.m.

Edison officials confirmed that a car striking a power line caused the outage.
