An I-5 Freeway mini-van fire near Gorman spread to nearby grass and caused several lanes to be blocked Monday morning.
Around 11 a.m. Monday, a mini-van caught fire, which spread to the nearby grass near the I-5 Freeway and Highway 138 in Gorman, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
*UPDATE* Crews on-scene have quickly attacked the grass fire limiting the spread to a 200' x 10' spot in order to prevent a much bigger incident. Crews now turning their attention to the vehicle fire. All occupants out. No reported injuries.

“Units on-scene of a fully involved vehicle fire (with) spread to surrounding grass, fueled by 20 (mile per hour) winds,” reads an official tweet Monday.
The brush fire grew to approximately 200 by 10 feet in size before it was brought under control, according to Fire officials.
The No. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway just south of Highway 138 were blocked for an unknown duration, according to California Highway Patrol incident logs.
No injuries had been reported in connection with the incident as of Monday morning.

The owner of the mini-van should be held liable and bear monetary responsibility should it be found that the vehicle fire was caused by poor maintenance and/or negligence.
We need to start seeing accountability when brush/wildfires are started because of this.
