7.3 Acre Brush Fire Stopped Near Castaic

A brush fire north of Templin Highway in Castaic burned nearly 7 ½ acres Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 6:43 a.m., said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Cheryl Sims.

“We were assisting the Angeles National Forest (forestry service),” she said.

But shortly after 11 a.m., the part of the fire on county land was extinguished.

“It was 100 percent on Angeles National Forest dirt … at 11:09 a.m.,” Sims said.

The last acreage reports provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department put the fire at 7.3 acres.

No structures were threatened by the fire, and no people were injured.
