Fire officials dispatched units to the Big Oaks Lodge at 11:27 p.m. Saturday night after receiving a call of a commercial building fire, according to spokesman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
When they arrived, officials said that the two-story restaurant was already fully involved in flames, as well heavy smoke.
At one point, the fire spread to nearby vegetation, which prompted the need for additional fire resources in order to ensure the blaze did not spread any further. By the end, more than 100 firefighters, with a total of 22 pieces of equipment, were called in to battle the fire.
The blaze continued to burn into Sunday morning, when fire officials were able to officially declare knockdown on the fire at 1:15 a.m. By the time the blaze was knocked down however, most of the building had been lost to the flames.
No evacuations were called for due to the isolated nature of the restaurant, and no injuries were reported, according to officials.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This is so sad. Big Oaks was a really wonderful and historic place. I feel like I have lost an old friend.
Before I ran with all of my biker buds on poker runs, my family and I had brunches there in the late 80’s, and man, will I ever miss this place. Went there today, and it’s a toal loss. Such a shame. 🙁
Hmmm, interesting. New owners, not enough business. Has needed serious renovations for a very long time now….
sad to make speculations and accusations
On the rebuild sprinklers.
