At around 7:12 p.m. Monday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of vehicle fire on the 5 Freeway truck route near the 14 Freeway, according to Jeremy Stafford, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
When they arrived on scene, firefighters determined that the blaze had started when the contents within the big rig’s trailer caught fire.
“(Firefighters) will probably be there for a while,” Stafford said. “Usually when they have a contents fire, it’ll take some time for them to safely unload everything and extinguish the fire.”
While firefighters had not officially declared knockdown as of 7:40 p.m., smoke was no longer visible from the truck, and no fire had spread to the nearby brush.
The northbound 5 Freeway truck route was shut down for at least 20 minutes as a result of the incident.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
