Brush Fire Near College Of The Canyons Quickly Extinguished

A brush fire was quickly extinguished Friday night after burning a quarter of an acre off the northbound I-5 Freeway near the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.

The fire broke out just before 6:40 p.m. Friday in the brush off the northbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway, north of the McBean Parkway exit.

Fire officials were able to extinguish the blaze within minutes of arriving on scene.

The blaze prompted California Highway Patrol officials to close the right three lanes of the northbound I-5 for an hour.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
