A brush fire near the lower lake in Castaic was “knocked down” after burning a quarter acre Saturday afternoon.

The blaze, dubbed the “Castaic Fire,” was called in at about 1:45 p.m., near the corner of Lake Hughes Road and Ridge Route Road.
Knockdown was called about 30 minutes later, after fire crews stopped the brush fire from burning any additional land, according to Los Angeles County Fire officials.
The blaze reached at about a quarter acre, moving in heavy fuels. Firefighters on scene reported the brush fire has engulfed trees in flames.
The fire, also called the “Castaic IC,” was battled by Los Angeles County Fire and Angeles National Forest Personnel.
At least nine engines, two helicopters, a dozer and multiple other units responded to the blaze, according to fire officials.
