Copper Fire Burns 2 Acres In Valencia, Forward Progress Stopped

The Copper Fire burned 2 acres near the the 29100 block of West Hills Drive in Valencia Tuesday.

4:48 p.m. Update: Forward progress was stopped on the Copper Fire, LACoFD officials said.

Crews are beginning to mop up the fire and douse any hotspots within the burn area.

4:38 p.m. Update: At least two acres have been burned, officials said. Firefighters are engaging both “flanks” or sides of the fire. Helicopters are supporting firefighters on the ground.

No structures have been threatened as of 4:38 p.m.

4:33 p.m. Update: The fire has consumed 1-2 acres, said Inspector Gustavo Medina with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Light to medium grass,”he said. “Its a first alarm assignment.”

4:30 p.m. Update: First responders reported smoke and flames showing from at least two miles out from the Valenica fire.

Officials have begun referring to the incident as the “Copper IC” or Copper Fire, as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
