Creek Fire Cresting Over Angeles Forest Mountains, Approaching Little Tujunga Canyon Rd. – #CreekFire

Creek Fire, #CreekFire, continues into Wednesday night and is reportedly cresting over the top of the mountains near Little Tujunga Canyon Rd. Smoke and flames are reportedly being seen by residents of Sand Canyon, Canyon Country. Officials reporting 12,605 acres at 5% containment.

UPDATE 6:26 p.m. — Officials received verified numbers concerning the Creek Fire in a detailed report at approximately 6:00 p.m.

“The Creek Fire has reached 12,605 acres and is 5 percent contained,” said Punky Moore, Public Affairs Officer for the Angeles National Forest. “Also, there are 2,500 residences threatened, one residence destroyed, and three other structures destroyed.”

Moore also stated that firefighters continue to battle the blaze through the night, and that there have been injuries as a result of the Creek Fire.

“Two injuries have been reported and 1,559 personnel continue to work on the (Creek Fire),” continued Moore. “110,000 people have been evacuated (as of 6 p.m.).

Moore had also stated that there are no new evacuation orders in place, and there isn’t one specific direction the flames are heading in.

“It’s growing in all directions,” concluded Moore.

“Santa Ana Winds to intensify and become damaging into Thursday night,” said officials with the National Weather Service, Los Angeles. “Be prepared for downed trees and powerlines, blowing dust and debris, power outages and very rapid fire spread.”

“These winds are unpredictable,” said Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials. “Please stay alert and prepared should the wind shift direction of fires.”

UPDATE 4:30 p.m. — Authorities have confirmed that the Creek Fire has resulted in 110,000 evacuations and 2,500 structures being threatened, according to a spokeswoman with LACoFD.

UPDATE 2:57 p.m. — LACoFD have announced that they will be holding a press conference at 4 p.m. today to discuss updates regarding the Creek Fire.

UPDATE 1:08 p.m. — “We just dispatched people out to Via Princesssa, but there was nothing there,” said LACoFD spokeswoman Maria Grycan. “And we’ve gotten reports of spot fires here and there, but we’ve either arrived and nothing was found or knockdown only took a couple of minutes.”

Grycan did say that there were fire personnel addressing a little fire activity in the Tujunga Canyon area, but Santa Clarita is not experiencing any major fires in regard to the Creek Fire.

“There’s nothing alarming happening in the immediate Santa Clarita area (due to the Creek Fire),” concluded Grycan.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m. — Personnel from Los Angeles County are working alongside local fire departments actively engaging and attempting to stymy the Creek Fire blaze.

“More than 65 deputy personnel and support staff from nine Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department patrol stations are working to evacuate residents, protect life and property, assist with road closures, and keep the area accessible to firefighters,” said a news release from LASD. “Deputies are also embedded in communities protecting areas which have been evacuated.”

Officials have also confirmed that as of 11 a.m. there have been no reported injuries of residents or LASD personnel.

“We’re expecting strong winds through tonight, and Fire personnel are working hard before that happens,” said a spokeswoman for the Creek Fire information line. “We haven’t gotten an updated acreage, but we’re expected to receive that information by 6 p.m. tonight.”

As of last night’s update, 1500 firefighters and personnel have continued to fight the Creek Fire blaze.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m. — “Incident command reporting 11,377 acres 0% containment,” said the LACoFD Fire PIO in regards to the #Creekfire.

The National Wildfire Reporting Group has reported that the #CreekFire continues into Wednesday morning, with the blaze that begun early on Tuesday now having reached 12,600 acres.

Those trying to avoid the freeway traffic should avoid Sand Canyon Rd. That roadway is closed indefinitely at Placerita Canyon Road, because it runs straight through where the fire is located in the Angeles National Forest.

Both sides of the CA-210 Freeway have reopened however, as of 8:10 a.m., according to CHP- Newhall officials.

It is unclear as of 8:15 a.m. if LACoFD officials will be ordering new evacuations as a result of the #CreekFire

As of Wednesday morning, Firefighters continue to battle the ongoing #CreekFire, #RyeFire and the new #SkyballFire.
