Golden Fire Update: Blaze Holding At 100 Acres, 90 Percent Contained – #GoldenFire

The Golden Fire has burned about 100 acres near Robert C. Lee Pkwy and Golden Valley Rd., with forward progress stopped and the blaze at 90 percent containment, according to LACoFD officials.

UPDATE 3:27 p.m. – Forward progress remains stopped, fire holding at 100 acres, 90 percent containment.

UPDATE 1:53 p.m. Forward progress has been stopped at 50 Acres, with the blaze at 10 percent containment, according to LACoFD officials.

UPDATE 1:28 p.m. — “25 acres, 3rd Alarm 200 firefighters responding,” said the LA County Fire PIO Twitter account. “No structures threatened.”

UPDATE 1:13 p.m. — While initial reports stated that students of Golden Valley High were being evacuated, Dave Caldwell, spokesman for the William S. Hart School district has clarified that students that were off campus for lunch are being advised not to return, but those still on school grounds can remain there.

UPDATE 12:57 — Golden Valley High school students are now being evacuated.

“We are evacuating Golden Valley High School as a precaution but the school is not in danger at this time,” said Lt. Bauer, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

UPDATE 12:41 p.m. — The #GoldenFire has now reached 10-12 acres. No updates on containment as of now.

The call came for the brushfire came in at 12:09 p.m. early Wednesday afternoon, and first responders were on scene by 12:12 p.m.

No structures are immediately threatened, according to officials.

The smoke plume can be seen from downtown Newhall as more information continues to stream in from officials.

  1. Hey, maybe check w/the school and fire department before saying kids are being evacuated. As of 1:02pm they are NOT being evacuated. How irresponsible!
