The shoulder of the southbound 14 north of the 5/14 split was closed by the California Highway Patrol just after 6 a.m. so firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department could work.
The spot fires were originally reported near the Newhall Avenue off-ramp.
According to CHP records, the three spot fires collectively burned about an acre before firefighters stopped forward progress on all three.
