Master’s University students were asked to vacate the MacArthur Center during their morning chapel service Monday after several students reported smelling smoke.
“We have an electrical issue up here in the crow’s nest,” said Campus Pastor Harry Walls, interrupting speaker Bobby Blakey. “We’re going to have to call the Fire Department.”
According to one student on scene, her friend had alerted campus security after smelling smoke. Campus security officials then proceeded to inform Walls, who announced the evacuation to the students.
Officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived shortly after, where they quickly determined that a short in an electrical box was the cause of the smell.
No injuries were reported, and firefighters left the scene less than 10 minutes after initially arriving.
