As a large storm hits Santa Clarita, first responders led the charge not against a flash flood, but a structure fire in Newhall.

At 10:35 a.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department received a call regarding a structure fire located on the 24000 block of Chestnut Street.
Once they arrived, first responders determined that the fire was coming from the back of the first story of a residence, according to LACoFD officials.
The fire scorched the interior of the home and caused visible damage to the exterior of the residence, including the walls and roof of the home.

First responders on scene went in for both a primary and secondary search of the residence, but did not find anyone within the home, according to officials.
While knocking down the fire took only a couple of minutes, officials stayed on scene for at least two hours, ensuring the complete extinguish of the blaze and that clean up had been sufficiently completed, according to officials with the LA County Fire Department.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies were also on scene, and while a request for American Red Cross was made, no one was injured, according to LACoFD officials.
