Fire officials received reports of a commercial building fire at approximately 10:13 p.m. near Lyons Avenue and Apple Street.

When they arrived on scene, they discovered that a nearby dumpster had caught fire.

“It was a dumpster fire which they thought had spread to a strip mall,” said Jeremy Staffor, Dispatch Supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “The fire did not spread to the structure.”

The dumpster fire was knocked down less than 20 minutes later. No injuries were reported, and the only structure to sustained any damage was a small shed adjacent to one of the nearby businesses.

The cause of the dumpster fire is currently unknown.
