The Magic Fire started just after 2 p.m., Oct. 22, near the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park on the west side of Santa Clarita.

By October 23, the fire had grown to 1,200 acres with only 20 percent containment, and it was considered a threat to Simi Valley if the winds continued.

However, weather conditions improved, and by evening, there was little fire spread, and control lines were holding.

  1. Doesn’t KHTS report news for the entire SCV? The Buckweed fire burned 10 houses to the ground on Camp Plenty Road near Whites Canyon, and damaged many more yet there is no mention of it. Houses two blocks away caught fire from the burning palm tree fronds that were being blown by the wind. Why is Canyon Country only mentioned by name in connection with crime?
