The Rye Fire continues to burn to the west of the Santa Clarita Valley, but firefighters are making headway, with 15 percent containment as of 7 a.m. Thursday.

Fire officials said the Rye Fire was still burning 7,000 acres near the 126 Thursday, but crews worked throughout the night, battling strong winds, to contain it.
No smoke was visible in Santa Clarita or Castaic Thursday morning.
One structure has been burned in the Rye Fire.

The structure destroyed in the blaze on Tuesday was a shed or outbuilding at Wayside Honor Rancho/Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, said Carmen Mackey, community services liaison for L.A. County.

A high wind warning was issued across northern Los Angeles County Wednesday night, warning residents about high winds and the danger they could pose to the firefighting effort.
