‘Split Fire’ Burns Quarter Acre Near 5/14 Split

Firefighters doused a quarter-acre brush fire near the 5/14 split Tuesday, facing heat in the 90s as they worked to stop the blaze.

Dubbed the Split Fire by first responders, the fire broke out around 2:07 p.m. near the 14 freeway and the Old Road. Firefighters were on scene by 2:14 p.m.

No structures were threatened, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials, and the fire was not growing when firefighters arrived.
