Three Fires Break Out Near Highway 14

Los Angeles County Fire officials are battling three small brush fires Thursday morning along Highway 14 from Agua Dulce to Newhall.

The Newhall Fire (#NewhallFire or #NewhallIC) was reported at 10:20 a.m., and grew to at least a quarter-acre with forward progress stopped about 30 minutes later, said Fire Inspector Richie Licon.

Two lanes of the southbound direction of Highway 14 at Sierra Highway was closed due to the emergency response, accorind to CHO

The fire is slowly moving uphill in light brush, according to L.A. County Fire officials.

Los Angeles County Air Operations is dropping water from above to stop the progress of the small brush fire.

There are also two more brush fires along freeways around the Santa Clarita Valley, there are also reports of a fire near Escondido Canyon Road.

The Escondido fire was reported as “Knocked Down” in about 10 minutes at 10:57 a.m., said Inspector Licon.

The cause of the fires are still under investigation by fire officials,  reports of an arson investigation were not confirmed by Los Angles County Fire as of Thursday morning.
