SCV Interfaith Council Observes MLK

Monday night ceremony remembers civil rights leader.

[view:node_ad=5]On Monday,  January 21st the Santa Clarita Interfaith Council will sponsor  the 15th Annual  Observance honoring the birthday, the dream, and the work of  Dr. Martin Luther  King, Jr.  The program will be held  from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at  Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, located at  26640 Bouquet Canyon  Rd., in Saugus.  

The program theme  “We Still Have A Dream…” will begin with a reception that will include  International foods and dance and games. The inspirational program following the reception will include community singing, choral and video  presentations, and  prayers from various traditions.   

“This is a youth and family oriented program,” said Pastor George McLeary,  Interfaith  president.  “We are inviting guests to dress in traditional  ethnic clothes to help create a joyous  atmosphere!”   

Faith communities belonging to the SCV Interfaith Council include: Bahai  Faith of Santa Clarita,  The Church of Hope (ELCA), The Church of Jesus Christ of  Latter-day Saints,  Friendly Valley United Methodist Church, Temple Beth Ami, Or Emet – A Jewish  Congregation, Sarathchandra Buddhist Temple, Santa Clarita Valley Pagan Network,  Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Unitarian  Universalists, and Valencia United Methodist Church.
