Both the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Santa Clarita Valley Latino Chamber of Commerce have agreed to become one entity, said chamber officials.
The 150-member Latino Chamber will dissolve and its membership will be transferred to the 1,100- member SCV Chamber of Commerce, effective Feb. 1, said chamber officials.
“We have a lot of good energy, and we’re looking forward to bringing that energy to the chamber,” said Bill Miranda SCV latino chamber of commerce CEO. “It’s a great marriage.”
A formal announcement will be made to members at the annual installation banquet Friday, said chamber officials.
“We are super excited to move forward with this,” said Terri K. Crain SCV chamber of commerce president. “It’s a win win for the community.”
Three of the new members being installed at the SCV Chamber of Commerce Banquet – Bill Miranda, Marlon Roa and Byron Alvarado – were previously members of the SCV Latino Chamber of Commerce, said chamber officials.
“We feel very strongly that this was a very beneficial move for our members because we’re gaining the infrastructure, the support system and the voice of a 1,200-member chamber, as opposed to a 150-member chamber,” Miranda said. “The immediate benefit will be the access to an additional 1,100 businesses and an ability to market our companies to an additional 1,100 companies and network with them on a regular basis. We can increase the buying power within the chamber community.”
Combining the two nonprofit entities offers an expansion of marketing options within the organization and to those outside the business sector, said chamber officials.
“This is a huge win-win for the community as a whole,” Crain said. “The addition of Latino business leadership to the larger group means a boost in lobbying power, among other things.”

“At the end of the day, we all have the same mission and vision and goals, which is to support business and have a strong voice.”
Why is the chamber of commerce even taking a racist group seriously? The name “Latino Chamber” in it self is racist and only sets back race relations. Do minority’s want to be treated equal or have an advantage against others? It’s time to stop segregating from other races and just live together as Americans. What’s so difficult about that?
