SCV Loses Community Leader

Retired Judge Haig Kehiayan dies.

A popular community leader has died at the age of 80. Haig Kehiayan, a retired judge, first entered Santa Clarita in the late 1980s and immediately immersed himself in various charities including the Boys and Girls Club, and the Chamber of Commerce.

 

Haig reportedly died in his sleep. He was a WWII veteran, and former lawyer before being appointed to the Superior Court in 1988 by then Governor George Deukmejian. He served on the bench until his retirement in 1998, although he continued to hear cases until 2002.
