SCV Pregnancy Center Enjoying New Location

Building fire forced organization to find a new home.

[view:node_ad=5]The Santa Clarita Valley Pregnancy Center, now in its 21st year serving our town, has settled in to a new location almost a year and a half after a fire in their building forced them to move.

Fire struck a medical office building on Peachland Avenue in December of 2006. Several floors suffered damage, and the Pregnancy Center had to relocate.

Now, having set up shop in the Atrium building on Valencia Blvd, organization head Angela Bennett says it couldn’t be better.

“We love that new space,” she said. “We are easily found by our patients and we have seen a great increase because of our location and the convenience of it.”

The Pregnancy Center offers education, pregnancy tests and counseling for women who become pregnant, and programs are in existence for parents and fathers to be.

“We are seeing probably 600 new clients this year,” Bennett said.  Adding that in the 21 year history the Center has provided services to over 9,000 people.

While most of the Center’s services are geared towards new families, they do offer grief counseling for women who decide to terminate their pregnancy.

“Women who have a miscarriage can openly grieve the loss of their pregnancy. Women who terminate their pregnancy have a difficult time recognizing that they have suffered a loss.”

Bennett went on to say that often woman do feel grief and sometimes they try to suppress it by using drugs or alcohol.
