“We will demonstrate to Congressman Steve Knight’s office that we will work to defend the hard-won protections of the Affordable Care Act and Medicare/Medicaid, applying our power by conducting a ‘march on — call out’ rally,” said Brandon Zavala, Antelope Valley Democratic Club.

Knight reached out to members of the organizations and said he was looking forward to meeting with them.

He noted both demonstrations have been scheduled on times when he was previously scheduled to be out of town, adding “(the organizations) have staged two protests on days that I am in Washington, D.C.,” and questioning whether that was the group’s intent.

The group claimed it had difficulty reaching out to Knight over the proposed reform of the Affordable Care Act.

Citing the advertising methods of a January Tele-Town Hall held by Congressman Knight, members of local democratic organizations claim that the Congressman is making it “near impossible” to meet with him and express their feelings.

The congressman responded to the claims that his Tele-Town Halls were not properly being advertised citing the fact that his schedule changes frequently so advertising in advance is not always possible.

“We don’t advertise because my schedule changes a lot when I am in D.C., so we don’t want to schedule them then have to cancel,” Knight added. “We are trying to do as many Tele-Townhalls as we can, we call 20,000 people, and they stay on for an hour and ask questions.”

Congressman Knight stated that anyone concerned with their ability to reach him can do so directly through his personal cell phone number at (661) 450-7422.

Knight said he just asks that anyone who reaches out to him includes their name and phone number in any text or message so they can properly respond.
A demonstration is planned for Wednesday, February 1 at all three of Congressman Knight’s local offices:

Antelope Valley Office
1008 West Avenue M-14, Suite E
Palmdale, CA  93551

Santa Clarita Valley Office
26415 Carl Boyer Drive, Suite 220
Santa Clarita, CA  91350

Simi Valley Office
1445 E. Los Angeles Avenue, #206
Simi Valley, CA  93065

The following organizations have already committed to participate in the demonstration: Antelope Valley Democratic Club, Democratic, Club of the High Desert, Simi Valley Democratic Club, Democratic Alliance for Action, and SCV United for Progress

SCV Progressives Call For Protest Of Knight’s Offices

  1. Thank you for protesting Steve Knight’s offices. I am disgusted that he has not weighed in on the so-called Muslim Ban. This is a disgrace! Only 6 California reps had “stood silent” as of yesterday, and he is one of them. For shame! I will willingly join you next time you protest this weak and ineffective congressman’s offices. Please put me on your list! Steve Knight does not represent the majority of his district. We are a mixed community, and a great example of what America can do when we all work together. Don’t let this waffler get away with waffling!

    • Hello Steve,

I’m on your mailing list but did not know about the tele meetings at all. Please put me on the list. As for the ACA, I prefer that it be replaced with a competitive plan to lower costs. As for the protests they are counter productive. The rest of us have to go to work and pay taxes. Oh, it’s not a Muslim ban. It’s a pause on refugees so we can get a screening system that works to protect us all. Calmer heads will prevail.

      Thank you Sir,

      Jim

  2. Congressman Knight – your constituents have been calling, writing and emailing you for weeks to talk about the ACA. This is why theyve now come directly to you. If your schedule is “too busy” to connect with those who you represent, there is a bigger issue. We expect and deserve better from our elected officials.

  3. Protest-Protest-Protest-Protest, Thats all you people know how to do… You can only answer so many calls and eMails and mabe check out online.. He has spoeken about it… and hey thanks for backing something that is costing some people 141% increase this year! BUT why would you care its in another state.. Let not forget those people that are being fined and having money taken from their tax returns, I guess thats OK as well. How abou having a real solution instead of just protesting!

  4. Dear Joe
I don’t think people are protesting because that’s all they ‘know how to do’, but rather, short of rioting, it’s one of the effective ways of voicing concerns.
We may agree or disagree about ACA, personally I’m siding on the argument to improve and modify, rather than repeal and replace, especially given that last year’s premium increases, whilst concerning and unsatisfactory, were in fact lower than year-on-year increases experienced before ACA.
As long as we can voice, listen to and respond respectfully to each other’s viewpoints, I think this country stands a chance of avoiding a disaster and emerging as a stronger, more unified nation

  5. I am deeply dismayed by Congressman Knight’s lack of response to his constituents. I’ve filled out his surveys, gone to his website, gone to his office, left messages — no response. My senators do not share his apathy; they always give me a prompt response, and they never hedge or leave me in the dark as to their positions. It’s unusual for a public servant to do that. Steve Knight seems not to agree with the values espoused by most Santa Claritans. Unless he changes in a hurry, all four family members in my household — along with a ton of other Santa Claritans — will vote in favor of his opposition in 2018, regardless of who that is. He needs to pay attention.

  6. I echo the frustrations of others who have tried to get a response from Representative Knight. I have also gone to his office, his website, left messages, but have received no response. What is he afraid of? He needs to be more responsive to his constituents because 2018 is just around the corner and we’re going to be more proactive in our efforts to make sure he is not re-elected than just not voting for him. He is our public servant and as long as he is sucking off the public tit he needs to be more responsive.

  7. I hope Congressman Knight holds strong and apposes Obama Care and supports the ban on non christian refugees coming from terrorist hotbeds. This will help keep medical costs down and keep Americans safe (yes, even you leftists out there who hate America will benefit from this).

  8. Right on, Chris K! Knight is a good leader and, along with others, is helping to protect us against our enemies. The ban is not against having Muslims in our country, it is a temporary ban of new Muslims entering our country. Safety first. This was also done in WWII with the Japanese. When your country is in danger (and yes we are), you do your best to limit your enemy’s power. Up until now, none of our leaders have cared enough about America’s safety to even try to defend us. Be thankful you have leaders who are taking steps to keep you safe. If we need to ban immigration from our enemy’s home country for a time, so be it.

  9. Absolutely no Muslim ban. Many many Muslim dominant countries such as Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are able to travel freely. Only those countries that President Obama listed as dangerous are included in this so called ban. Please get educated folks before you jump on the hysterical protest bandwagon.

  10. What a DUD Steve turned out to be…

    It’s sad…
