SCV Resident Kevin Holmes Wins Top CPA Recognition

Holmes in top 25 in North LA area

ImageOn August 14th, twenty five CPAs were recognized for being in the top of the accounting field.

The awards were held by the San Fernando Business Journal and they cover a wide field of nominees from the greater San Fernando Valley and beyond. Roughly, the boundaries draw from Pasadena to Oxnard and Mulholland Dr to Mojave.

Two local residents were included as winners at this prestigious award ceremony. Kevin Holmes of Good, Schwartz, Brown and Berns LLP was one of them.

Holmes has been in his field for fourteen years. When he was asked how he felt about the award, he was quick to note his honor to be integrated with the particular people with whom he shares his new found distinction.

“For me, most of all, I was just honored to be included in a group of folks that have been practicing public accounting at a high level for many years,” Holmes said.

The San Fernando Business Journal solicits nominations for this award from the business community. The nomination criteria looks for those who either make a difference in their firms, or in the business community.

And while Holmes’ firm is located in the San Fernando Valley, he does hold strong local ties with Santa Clarita, having lived in the SCV area for 10 years. Currently, he chairs the College of the Canyon Foundation Board.

Interestingly enough, he sits on the Foundation Board with the other local CPA award winner Gary Condie.

KHTS spoke with Gary Condie today, who was eager to compliment Holmes. “It was a real pleasure to see him be one of the winners,” Condie said. “He is a terrific guy.”

Condie also testified first hand to Holmes’ strengths as an accountant, highlighting his leadership roles with the new Sarbanes – Oxley requirements. Sarbanes – Oxley is new federal legislation that forces all public companies to adhere to strict guidelines. The legislation was conceived in the wake of the Enron scandal.

KHTS would like to congratulate Kevin Holmes and Gary Condie for their professional achievements.
