While there are currently no active fires reported to the Los Angeles County Fire Department in the Santa Clarita Valley, units from the Los Angeles Fire Department based in the city of Los Angeles are responding to a brush fire in Pacoima, according to a tweet by LACoFD officials.

A structure fire reported on the 27500 block of Marta Lane in Canyon Country at 6:41 p.m. was a false alarm, said Sgt Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Somebody’s dinner was smoldering in the oven and they panicked,” Allen said.

The Pacoima fire was holding at 5-6 acres on the 12100 block of W. Osborne Street at 6:52 p.m., moving at a “creep” in “very heavy brush,” according to a tweet by LAFD officials.

By 7:19 p.m., forward progress of the fire had been stopped, and the blaze was 50 percent contained at 8 acres.

The location of the Pacoima fire is approximately 28 miles away from Santa Clarita, with wind speeds currently reported at 7 mph.
