The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center Foundation is putting the call out for new volunteers. The nonprofit organization is seeking help from the community for upcoming events and is holding a volunteer recruitment fair. Anyone who would like to volunteer with the senior center foundation, and would like to learn more about the nonprofit organization, is encouraged to attend.
A the fair, a tour of the senior center will be given to all prospective volunteers so that they can get an understanding of the types of programs and services that are available. Areas that volunteers can help with include administrative tasks, photography, entertainment, event organizations, creative arts, fundraising, community outreach, and social media.
“We need help from our community members with a variety of volunteer opportunities,” said board member Gerri McCorkle, who is chairing the volunteer corps team. “We are fortunate to have an amazing, talented group of people in Santa Clarita – students, business owners, retirees and more. And, we’re looking forward to seeing them share their skills with the senior center foundation.
The volunteer corps will be called G.I.V.E. Grand Invaluable Volunteer Experience. The team is designed to encourage volunteers to share their skills and time to help continue the success of the organization.
The volunteer recruitment fair will be hosted 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market St.
