The city of Santa Clarita is co-sponsoring a luncheon on employment law in coordination with the Valley Industry Association (VIA). The purpose of the February 19th luncheon is to help local business owners and managers become familiar with recent changes in California law that could impact their businesses.
“Knowing and understanding the state’s employment laws – and the consequences of not complying – is vital to running a business in Santa Clarita Valley,” said Kathy Norris, CEO and President of VIA.

At the luncheon, David Poole and Brian Koegle from Poole & Shaffery, LLP will update attendees on changes to state employment statutes including minimum wage rules, best practices in social media, and new laws regarding workplace accommodations and handling personnel records. “Poole and Shaffery does an excellent job of both bringing that knowledge to the table and helping people clearly understand it,” said Norris.
Other sponsors of the event are Mellady Direct Marketing, Poole & Shaffery, LLP, L/B/W Insurance & Financial Services Inc., KHTS, and SCVTV.
The luncheon will be held at the Valencia Country Club on Tuesday, February 19th, at 11:30 a.m.
VIA has begun selling seats to the luncheon and reservations are strongly encouraged. Seats reserved by February 8 cost $40, and reservations made from February 9-14 will be priced at $45. For those who reserve after February 14 and for non-members, seats will be $50. Tickets sold at the door on the day of the event will cost an additional $10, though space cannot be guaranteed.
Reservations can be made by calling the VIA (661) 294-8088 or on the VIA website.
