ClarkLast Friday, The Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Valley YMCA announced that Chris Clark will become their next Executive Director. As executive director, Clark will be responsible for all YMCA activities in the Santa Clarita Valley including their youth, healthy lifestyles, camp and other family programming.

“I am very excited to serve the families of our community,” said Clark. “The YMCA offers many great opportunities and I look forward to working with the many volunteers of the YMCA to strengthen our programs in the community.”

Clark has held the position of Director of Development and Communications for the YMCA since 2007. In this capacity, he was successful in increasing the exposure of the YMCA and increasing community activities in SCV.

“We are thrilled to have Chris continue his career at the YMCA in this important leadership position,” said John O’Connell, YMCA Board Chairman. “He has been very effective in building new and lasting relationships for the Y and is recognized as a forward thinking leader in the community.”

“Chris brings knowledge, enthusiasm and a passion for families,” notes Laurie Ender, YMCA Board Member and City of Santa Clarita Councilmember, “which fits perfectly with the mission and goals of the YMCA.”

Prior to coming to the YMCA, Clark was the Area Director of Special Olympics Santa Clarita, where he doubled the number of athletes with disabilities participating in the area. He then went on to be the Regional Director of Special Olympics for Los Angeles County bringing programs and leadership to more than 4,000 athletes.
