Choosing The Best Interior Door For Your Home

Door_Pic_copy_copyInterior doors are just as important as doors that lead into your home. Even though warmer weather is almost here in the Santa Clarita valley, good quality doors that can withstand extreme heat are a must.

Interior doors provide privacy from the general living area and from the outside world. An interior door needs to be able to keep in the heat when it’s cold and keep a room cool when it’s hot outside. When you think about purchasing interior doors, you should keep in mind that quality should never be sacrificed.

There are a variety of interior wooden doors to choose from, but choosing the perfect kind to fit your home can be a little challenging. Engineered wood doors are the most common and made of composite engineered wood and exterior surfaces treated in a thin sheet of wood veneer. This type of wood door is inexpensive, sturdy enough to resist cracking and provides adequate insulation.

The more durable type of wooden door is white oak. It is affordable, extremely resistant to water damage and cracking and it is durable for children’s rooms and bathrooms. Another cost affective choice for solid wood doors is the popular brand. Its strong medium-density wood helps to minimize outside noise and is another great heat and cool insulator. The popular type of wood responds well to both staining and painting.

If you are looking for a more elegant wood that you can show off, cherry wood might be just for you. The medium-strength wavy grain is very decorative, and resistant to water damage and warping. However, over time cherry wood will change color as it is exposed to light. A more specific type of wood that fits tract homes are moulded panel doors and are available in many styles. Another type of wood is the solid core version, which is much heavier and is available in a variety of styles.

“The main difference between moulded doors and wooden doors is that the wood doors can be stained or painted, moulded panel doors can only be painted,” said Mike, owner of Mikes Windows and Doors.
