Slipcovers Are A Cinch: If your upholstery is looking tired and ragged, there is no quicker facelift than a slipcover. Custom can take up to 2 weeks and break the bank. There are many slipcovers available online that are sure to fit your sofa or chair to make your piece look like new again.
Toss A Pillow: Accent pillows in bright colors can be fun and trendy without making a huge expensive commitment to a new design for the entire room. Look at your discount stores for some inspiration.
Repurpose Furniture: Take an unused chest of drawers from a bedroom into the family room, place some photos, and a table lamp on it to create a cozy vignette. Doesn’t cost you a penny, except sweat equity.
Paint An Accent Wall: Pick one wall in your room to add a jolt of color. More than any other design element, wall color has the ability to change the feeling of a room.
Anchor Your Seating: An area rug can be placed on a hard floor, or over an existing wall to wall carpet. The trick is to have the rug large enough to anchor your seating group; usually a 5 x7 or an 8 x 10 will do the trick.
Change Of Light: A new lampshade can give your light fixture a whole new look. Be sure to buy a comparable size, to best suit the size of the lamp.
Edit Down: Sometimes the best way to improve a room is to remove some furniture and accessories. Don’t over think it. Take a photo of the room to give yourself an objective view of the room. Remove what looks like clutter. This will breathe new life into the room, and does not cost one penny!
