Pumpkins are all around us this time of year.  It used to be that we headed to the pumpkin farm to pick up pumpkins for carving and/or decorating.  Fortunately, they are now available at grocery stores, Trader Joes, and Target.

Nothing says “fall” like pumpkins and gourds placed in and around your home.

Miniature Bats Painted Pumpkins

I learned this from a past issue of Better Homes and Gardens.  It is so creative.Draw bats on small white pumkins with a black Sharpie.  Take a length of twine and knot one end with a large washer.  On the other end, tie a loop.  On the top and bottom of the pumpkin, punch holes, and use wire to pull the twine through the holes.  The washer supports the weight of the pumpkin and the loop can attach to a hook placed on your garden path.

Take miniature pumpkins to bewitching new heights with an aerial display. Draw bats on white pumpkins with a permanent marker. Cut a length of thick jute and knot one end to a large washer. Tie a loop in the other end. Punch holes in the top and bottom of the pumpkin, and use wire to pull the twine through the holes. (The washer supports the pumpkin’s weight, and the loop attaches to the shepherd’s hook.)
