Getting Your Windows Streak Free
All windows, regardless of location become dirty one way or another and require cleaning. Exposure to airborne dust, acid rain, oxidization, and fingerprint smudges can cause that misty film to build up on your windows.
Of course, washing your windows regularly can seem a bit unrealistic. With the right cleaning supplies, getting rid of smudges and grime won’t be one of the chores you avoid.
Many of us just use generic Windex and an old rag or paper towel. We scrub and we wipe over and over again with little to no success. This method is really an illusion to cleaning windows quickly and efficiently. In reality, old rags and paper towels just spread around the dirt and smudges.

The most effective tool for cleaning windows is not some organic cloth or fancy spray.
“The best thing to use is a squeegee to make sure you don’t have streaks,” said John Smith owner of Santa Clarita Molly Maid.
Along with a squeegee, the best method to cleaner windows is to mix a homemade solution with household products. Mix either a cap full of ammonia or 4 to 5 drops of dish soap to 2 gallons of water. Or if you don’t want to use dish soap you can use one cup of vinegar with one quart of water.
Lightly dip a sponge in the solution just enough to dampen the window and wash away the dirt and grime. Next, fill a bucket with clean water and dip the squeegee, then start pulling the squeegee gently downward on the window. For best results, after each time you pull the squeegee downward, wipe it clean with a paper towel.
